Clubs at SWC
Improv has a junior and senior team that meets about two to three times a week after school to have fun and practice scenes throughout the entire year. Once a year are Canadian Improv Games in which teams from other schools compete against one another. The winning team goes to the National Canadian Improv Games.
Flag Football runs from the last week in April to Mid - June. We play once a week and practice 1-3 times depending on the time of the season. We usually have 9-12 players from gr.9-12. We practice more often in April and early May than later in the season. 5-7 League games with playoffs and a provincial championship.
Stancil Johnson once said that “when a ball dreams it dreams of being a Frisbee”. Ultimate is a co-ed, non-contact, team sport similar to soccer or football where the team works cooperatively to score points against the opposing team. The Spartans ultimate team practices twice a week and plays games once a week against other high schools from Regina and the surrounding area.
When you join yearbook you will be part of a team of students who take great pictures of events throughout the year, combine them with clever captions and amazing layouts to create a book full of memories of the best times at Sheldon. Yearbook meets every Wednesday in room 102 after school.
Yoga club is a great way to reduce stress, stretch sore muscles while pushing yourself in a fun and interactive workout. Yoga Club will start after the February break. Time and location to be announced.
The Pride Club is the Gay-Straight Alliance at Sheldon- Williams Collegiate. Meetings are every Thursday after school in Room 106. We meet in a safe, welcoming environment to support each other, and have open, honest discussions related to sexual orientation and gender identity. In addition, we do fun things like crafts and movies, and finally we host speakers and events, and work to end homophobia and transphobia. New members are always welcome!
The Page Turners is our book club at Sheldon-Williams Collegiate. We meet every third Tuesday after school in the library. Our club members bring interesting, exciting book choices which we vote on, and then read and discuss. Our library provides 3 copies of each book , and then it is up to the students to locate copies. The book club is a wonderful place for great conversations about books, but also just to relax, laugh and share our thoughts and opinions in a comfortable space. New members are always welcome!
Craft club is a fun club where we try out and learn a variety of crafts, from crochet and knitting to pottery, beading, paper crafts, henna, colouring, arm-knitting, weaving, and much more. All students are welcome to join and drop in at any time. We meet on Mondays and Fridays at lunch in the Art Room in the downstairs T.
Coding & Robotics Club is a great place for students to try out the wonderful world of computer programming, web design, and robotics! Students can drop by to play a game, learn a new skill or language, or even learn how to program a robot to push another robot out of the ring! Students working on the robots have the chance to attend the My Robot Rumble competition in Saskatoon in the spring.
We meet on Wednesdays after school (3:30-4:30pm) in the computer lab, room 309.
