Athletics at SWC

At Sheldon-Williams we offer four volleyball teams: Junior Girls, Junior Boys, Senior Girls, and Senior Boys. The teams usually run at least two tryouts before the start of the season in order to select the teams. On average, teams have between 4 – 5 practices a week in addition to playing league games once a week. Many of the teams also participate in weekend tournaments either in Regina or surrounding area.

The basketball season runs from early November until early March.  There are approximately practices 3-4 times per week and games are played 1-2 times per week. Most of the basketball teams also play in 3-4 tournaments during the season.

High School Hockey in Regina is a recreational league that is slightly competitive.  The league welcomes all Grade 9 to 12 male and female students that do not play AA or AAA in Hockey Regina.  The season runs from mid-November until early March and the time commitment is one to two games  per week, for a total of 14 per season.

The Sheldon boys and girls wrestling teams train together every Monday to Friday in the Sheldon wrestling room from 4-5:30pm.  All are welcome to join.

Curling is a fun and easy-to-learn winter sport, all students at all levels are welcome to join. Students play in small teams of 4-6 players; we often have Junior teams (grade 9 & 10, both girls and boys play together), Senior Boys and Senior Girls (grades 10-12), and Mixed (girls and boys, grades 10-12).  The season runs from November to January, with playoffs in early February.  Games are always 4-6pm – Juniors play Mondays, Sr Boys and Sr Girls play Tuesday, and Mixed teams play on Thursday.
